The Roots of our Youth Program
Boys and Girls K-8th Grades
The roots of our organization are in
youth basketball. We see basketball as a tool – a tool that helps us build and
shape young players into better people. Simply put, making better basketball
players for us means making better people. Young players in our programs will be
instilled with what we call My Starting Five– the five values we believe are
essential to adolescence and early adulthood, which are: Persistence, Fairness,
Work Ethic, Respect and Discipline.
All of our youth programs are staffed
with professional coaches who understand these values and the process that young
players go through in accepting them. It’s not always easy – but that is our job
and frankly, why Hoop Masters is a unique organization. Our job is to raise the
level of every player – no matter what level they are when they arrive in our
gyms.
Make no mistake, the ability to analyze,
instruct and refine young players is not in every coach. High quality youth
coaches are special because they must possess a balance of both patience and
accountability. Young players grow and develop at their own pace, but at the
same time, each player must be instilled with a sense of responsibility beyond
the self because at every level, basketball is a team game.
Our coaches know basketball, but it
takes more than knowledge to shape players and to help them improve. It takes a
keen eye and attention to detail. It takes an understanding of how to work with
a group of players as a whole but at the same time see each player individually
– and on an individual path/timeline for development.
Last but not least, our coaches must be
passionate – truly passionate, about working with and assisting young players.
This passion is reflected in the entire organization – right down to the roots.
