This is where it all happens.

The HMBA is a year round program for boys and girls in grades K-8. The sessions are a mixture of skill development, strength and conditioning, and game concepts. Players are grouped by age and ability, and each group is led by a member of our professional coaching staff.

There are 3-5 sessions happening per week. Most sessions are on weeknights but occasionally we will offer a weekend series of sessions as well. Participants can attend as many sessions per week as desired. Sessions are at various schools in Mid City Los Angeles or the West Los Angeles/Venice area.  The HMBA complements our Team Program, which meets on the weekends.

Various enrollment options exist:  Players can participate in the HMBA and our Team Program simultaneously, or only our Team Program, or only participate in the HMBA.

Tuition is based on calendar months and starts at $200 per month for attending one session per week and increases with higher participation. Players can start anytime. The first month of tuition will be prorated accordingly.

Players may try one session with no obligation but that session is considered the first session should a player sign up. Discounts are available for siblings.

Travel Teams

Hoop Masters Team Program is for 2nd through 8th grade players and runs from September through July each year.  Our teams practice or play on the weekends and are coached by members of our professional coaching staff.

Weekend practices are normally held on the Westside/Venice area of Los Angeles.  Games are played in a variety of locales around the Los Angeles area.

Our Team Program works in conjunction with our player development program, the HMBA (Hoop Masters Basketball Academy), to provide each player with the most comprehensive and well-rounded approach to learning the game of basketball.  However, participation in the HMBA is not a requirement to playing on one of our teams.  Players can join our Team Program anytime as we are always forming new teams or may have openings on existing teams.

Players are evaluated before joining a team.  That evaluation can happen at one of our HMBA sessions or at one of our weekend team practices.  Our team practice schedule is often in flux, so if you are unable to attend an HMBA session, email us at info@hoopmasters.org to find out our next travel team practice.  To attend an HMBA session, here are the next steps:

  1. Consult our calendar for the next HMBA session near you.
  2. Email us at info@hoopmasters.org or call us at (310) 857-6400 to let us know when you are planning to attend.
  3. Download our registration packet and complete the Personal Information form (only) from the packet and bring it to the gym.

Camp Details:

Our summer hoops training camp is unique. No other camp offers the detailed instruction and the time for each player to master individual skill areas. As with many camps, players are assessed and then placed into small groups. But during each day, players are given the opportunity to work on individual skill areas – at the direction of the coaches, so that weaker areas can be improved during the camp. At multiple times during the day, players will be in a scrimmage/game type environment where they will be encouraged to utilize newly developed skills. This camp is ideal for both beginner and advanced players because we differentiate our instruction and match players in workouts and competition to their abilities. We will truly get each player better. This is no other camp environment like this!

Camp will open each day at 10:30am. We will start a warmup around 10:45 and small group sessions will start at 11am. We will break for lunch around 12:30pm and then resume the camp by 1-1:15pm. Camp will end each day at 3pm.

Players should bring water and snacks. Players are encouraged to bring their own basketball but we will provide one as well. Bring lunch or money for Subway (M-Thurs) or pizza (Friday). We do not operate a snack bar during camp.

Private Instruction

More Information

We have the largest coaching staff in Southern California for private instruction.  There are advantages and disadvantages to private instruction.  We recommend players attend an HMBA session where we can see the player in action against his/her peers in order to determine the best instructor and the type of instruction needed.  Instruction rates vary based on the instructor, location of sessions and number of participants.

For more information about our private program or to schedule an appointment, please contacat us at (310) 857-6400 or email us at info@hoopmasters.org.
